I am a former volunteer firefighter and EMT, and November 2024 I decided to expand my therapy practice to help my fellow first responders. If you are a first responder struggling with the lingering effects of trauma, consider reaching out to us at Luma Counseling. My practice is tailored to address the specific needs of first responders, informed by my personal understanding of what Fire/EMS responders experience and how our work continues to affect us after our shift ends. We never enter a structure fire alone, and we should never have to face our internal struggles alone, either.
Take the first step towards healing by contacting me today to learn more about how I can support you. As first responders we are so accustomed to seeing people in ldesperate situations that we minimize what we are going through, and as a result, we minimize our own struggles. Or we try to resolve these struggles in self-destructive ways. We're adrenaline junkies, and sometimes that rush wreaks havoc on our lives away from the station. I can help you identify healthy ways to manage stress and improve not only your internal dialogue, but in your relationships with others.
